Our Journey
Anybody can make an impression, but Na Kia’i O Maui seeks to always make an imprint—leaving a lasting legacy of aloha with those we serve.
War Memorial Shelter
In the immediate aftermath of the Maui wildfires, Nā Kia‘i O Maui spearheaded the organization of hundreds of War Memorial Gym-based volunteers to provide compassionate support and safety through congregate shelter (known then as “Da Hui”).
Central Hub
Through collaboration with FEMA, Red Cross, and supporters across all islands, we organized and mobilized 900 volunteers to lead the staging, sorting and distribution of donated goods as the central hub to various Maui hubs and hives from the base yard at 150 Hana Highway.
Kelawea Mauka Makai
Nā Kia‘i O Maui helped form and provided much needed resources to the Kilauea Mauka distribution hub in Lahaina to reach families who remained in the burn zone without access to food, water, supplies, or communication.
Pu’uhonua O Nene
At the request of Maui County Department of Human Services and Project Vision, we helped build and provided initial management at Pu’uhonua O Nene Shelter in Kahului, a 28-unit tent-city, for Lahaina’s displaced houseless community.
Lahaina Resource & Recovery Center (LRRC)
The Lahaina Resource & Recovery Center opened on June 1, 2024 and serves as a comprehensive resource center for people impacted by the devastating August 8, 2023 Maui fires.
We're just getting started.
